New Delhi, April 25, 2008
All India Radio, India’s national Radio broadcaster, launches interactive mobile services in partnership with ACL Wireless Limited. The service will be available on a common short code 5676744 on SMS and Voice across all leading mobile networks in the country. All India Radio listeners can now send feedback, song request, see latest news or participate in a contest or poll anytime, anywhere through their mobile phones. The service would enable listeners to interact with Akashvani 24X7 and thereby help AIR build closer tie with its listeners.
The service was formally launched by Mr. B. S. Lalli, CEO Prasar Bharati and DG – AIR in a function organised in Akashvani bhawan. He emphasised the role of All India Radio and how mobile can play an instrumental role in bringing its listeners’ closer to AIR. He further added that listeners can now interact directly with studio experts through their mobile phone. Mr. Atanu Mandal, President of ACL Wireless was also present during the launch.
ACL Wireless Limited, a leading developer and provider of cutting-edge wireless solutions for consumers and enterprises, has won this contract from All India Radio for a period of three years. Under the contract ACL Wireless will design, install and manage the services, which in turn will be made available to more than 350 million Akashvani listeners across the country. Various channels of AIR such as Vividh Bharati, FM Rainbow, FM Gold etc. would benefit from this service.
ACL offers these services through a fully hosted multi-modal platform which is connected to all mobile operators in India. The same has provided All India Radio an instant, unique identity in the mobile domain over SMS as well as data and voice based two-way interactions with its viewers over their mobile phones.
Talking about the launch Mr. Atanu Mandal, President of ACL Wireless Limited said, "The AIR tie-up significantly consolidates ACL’s presence in the wireless services domain.
