All India Radio launches mobile services

All India Radio, India’s national Radio broadcaster, launches interactive mobile services in partnership with ACL Wireless Limited.  The service will be available on a common short code 5676744 on SMS and Voice across all leading mobile networks in the country. All India Radio listeners can now send feedback, song request, see latest news or participate in a contest or poll anytime, anywhere through their mobile phones. The service would enable listeners to interact with Akashvani 24X7 and thereby help AIR build closer tie with its listeners.

ACL’s SMS chat service generates over 6 million chat messages in one month

ACL’s SMS Chat service received an overwhelming response by the subscribers of Nigeria’s GLO network with more than 350,000 registrations and traffic of over 6 million chat messages within first month of launch. The service was launched in March by Nigeria’s national telecom operator Glo Mobile under the brand name of ‘AfriChat’.

BSNL Tunes notches over half million subscribers in 4 months

ACL Wireless Limited has launched personalised Ringback Tone (PRBT) service for the subscribers of BSNL in the region of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The service, known as BSNL Tunes, is launched in partnership with State owned telecom giant, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.

MIH India, part of the multi-billion dollar media conglomerate, Naspers, today announced a strategic investment into mobile value added services company ACL Wireless Limited. The total value of the investment from MIH’s end is $12.3 Million for a strategic stake of 30 per cent in ACL Wireless.
